Merrill Maine is a small town located in southern Aroostook County with a population of just 208 in 2020.  Originally organized in 1858 for election purposes, Merrill gets its name from Captain William Merrill who bought the township in the 1840s.  The town changed its name from T6 R4 to Merrill in 1911 when in was formally incorporated.  Traditionally a farming and woodsmen’s community the town still has plenty of farmland and woods to support the recent return to the “homestead” way of life.
